Bike Your Way to the Hidden Gems of Buenos Aires

First of all… This is not one of those typical bike rides around Palermo, Recoleta and the classic neighborhoods. Better leave that to any of the zillion bike tours you will be offered at your hotel lobby.

    Destination: Tigre!

    Al borde del Rio Lujan

A town in northern Greater Buenos Aires, that lies on the Delta of the Paraná River. First, we take a train to the suburbs. After our 20-minute train ride we´ll get off the train at a residential neighborhood from where we´ll cycle bordering the Rio de la Plata (following the Tren de la Costa track) up to Tigre and it’s magnifique Delta. We´ll ride through San Isidro´s historical quarter and get into its Nature Reserve. We’ ll pedal along San Fernando and other strategic points from where we will be able to see the Buenos Aires skyline from the distance, contrasting with the immensity of the river…

    • Duration: 6 hours.
    • Price: 55 USD per person.
    • Includes: Guidance, bike, helmet, train tickets, mineral water, snack and personal insurance policy. Lunch is not included so you can either bring your own, or buy some sandwich / tarta / empanada at a “Kiosko”, where we usually make a stop.
    • Frequency: daily, with a minimum of 2 people.
    • Departure Time: Monday to Saturday 9.00 a.m. Sunday 10 am.

Get into the Delta! (optional after the bike tour).

Once in Tigre, there is an optional tour: canoeing through the picturesque rivers and inner brooks in handmade Canadian canoes (they are totally safe, and don´t require previous experience). You will have a paddling instructor that will take you into the islands. You´ll see how the islands have been built up by the sediments carried down by rivers that run through several countries of South America, and plenty of typical plant species, as well as witnessing the particular way of life of the delta residents.

This tour includes a stop on an island where you will also get a snack and a drink.

  • We’ll meet near plaza San Martin

Alvaro is 28 years old and knows quite a bunch about the city. His experience as a tour guide started back in 2010 when he was asked to guide visitors through the Teatro Colón since its re-opening. That was when he discovered his vocation for communicating and showing everyone who might reach him how wonderful and complex Buenos Aires is…

Prior to my arrival I communicated with Lucianna; everything went very smooth. On the designated day, some members of my group decided to cancel which delayed our arrival, but once again Lucianna was very accommodating. We booked the Bike- Canoe trip; the trip started with a little biking in the city followed but a fun train ride to the suburbs where we again biked (more extensively) and were able to see some lovely scenery away from the hustle of BA. Eventually we reached the Tigre River where we canoed to a lovely spot for snacks before making our way back to the train station again for an adventurous 1 hr ride back to the city. Simply a wonderful trip, great guide in Lucianna who was accommodating, always insuring we were having a good time and were safety conscious. Excellent value but be aware that some of the biking is on cobble stone streets.

A Biking Blast

I’ll try not to repeat all the other reviews info.We did the tigre river bike + canoe tour.We had our 11 year old with us and could not find another bike tour company that would take kids, so we were fortunate that we found bike it.
It is a fairly long bike tour that though on city streets we did not feel uncomfortable riding.
